The SPYDERCO Assist Rescue Jr folding knife is a lightweight, purpose-driven folder for emergency responders and prepared citizens. It uses high-carbon VG-10 stainless steel in a partially serrated, blunt-nose blade profile for effective cutting performance. The FRN handle integrates a survival whistle and houses a retractable, replaceable carbide-tip glass/ice breaker that deploys when the closed blade is squeezed, retracting when released. A reinforced wire pocket clip attaches through the handle for ambidextrous carry, and a Cobra Hood metal cap guides the thumb for quick, by-feel opening while providing a textured leverage surface.
